Over 30 years ago, my health journey began due to a health crisis, termed by medical professionals, “severe migraine seizures.” It sent me on what appeared to be that proverbial “wild goose chase” though actually, it ended up launching me into my destiny. God’s ways are very mysterious, yet often His patterns become known to us both by His word and His welcome participation in our lives.
In this case, it seems that my offering to seek more natural answers to the said crisis (which was met with success) opened this mysterious “pathway” for me beginning around 1983-4. (As you might have suspected, conventional medicine’s offerings were prescription drugs to resolve these symptoms. No thanks.)
From that point to some time in 1990’s, I was busy growing wheat grass, juicing it and veggies, or drying vegetables and trying wide varieties of raw menu items. Basically, causing much commotion with family, friends, and neighbors due to non-stop conversations on health, diet and plenty of often-rejected food samples, with the exception of freshly ground organic, whole wheat bread, which was always met with delight.
During this time my heart was turning into God’s “messages” about health provisions within garden “goodies”. I was so excited and fascinated to learn and ingest every vibrant provision, that arguing over it never occurred to me.(Other than parent/ child, “You must drink your carrot juice…” all two ounces.) Unfortunately for many venturing down this path, much needless strife can occur over food.
After helping neighbors and mentoring others who would open co-ops and disburse my little “green” nutrient nuggets, I opted for certification at Hallelujah Acres in North Carolina. After all, Reverend Malkmus’s unconventional methods beat his cancer while his mother’s more conventional approach and outcome were exactly opposite.
In 2010, while working at Whole Foods Market™ I was selected to teach their new healthy eating program at Winter Park’s store. During this time, I received my Holistic Health Coaching certification through Institute for Integrative Nutrition and also attended Roux be Cooking School while building partnerships locally. My favorite line during those years was, “I am in everybody’s business!” It was delightful taking healthy eating messages into schools, City buildings, private businesses. My calendar was always booked three or more months in advance.
However, large-scale company adjustments abruptly changed things in fall of 2015. In fact, without warning my position was ended! Fortunately, I had reached 10,000 folks annually through those 5 years, and as God would have it, one of my favorite local businesses with integrative practitioners asked me to join them. Here I was not only able to help with diet, but also prayer was incorporated for those desiring it, and many did, with pleasing results. This drove home the significance of combining natural things with Supernatural things. There was no mistaking healing results at significantly greater measures than those who merely changed their plate.
As 2017 opened, I was led to an additional education in Ministry through Orlando House of Prayer. Now, an Ordained Minister and Certified Holistic Health Coach, I am delighted to help others attain better alignment with their Creator.
